On November
22nd, we had our Purple and Gold meet for 2008-2009 season, where
everyone on the team had a chance to wrestle in a real match. This
is useful to get our returning wrestlers back into the proper mindset,
but it is even more beneficial to our new wrestlers who may not
have been on the mat before (at least, not in front of an audience!)
As with
all meets, we started with a warm up. Notice the beautiful new mat!

Then
we got right down to it!
.

This
was also the perfect time to help get our parent volunteers up to
speed on scorekeeping, timing, and the general
rules of the sport. Just WHAT do all those hand signals mean?
Thanks to Jim for officiating, and taking the time to fill us in
with a briefing before the match.

Overall,
the Purple and Gold was a huge success. We all learned a lot, and
are looking forward to our first meet!
Huge
thanks go to the booster club volunteers to prepare and staff the
concession stand. Through their efforts, we not only get funds for
things like camp, but we also get delicious snacks at every home
event!
